Nursing home abuse is the abuse of residents in these facilities. It includes physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, financial exploitation, and neglect. Estimates suggest that one in six senior citizens living in nursing homes suffer from abuse each year—compared to one in ten senior citizens overall who have experienced elder abuse.
