My name is Janine Caamano and I am a bilingual (English & Spanish) child psychotherapist in Basking Ridge, NJ. I specialize in working with children ages 3-10 who suffer from anxiety, trauma, and ADHD. Through play, I give children a voice. I work on increasing your child’s confidence so that they can achieve their full potential. I utilize creativity in my sessions in order to keep the child engaged and to make our sessions fun and enjoyable so that the child is able to learn and grow. I believe every child has the right to experience happiness every day. Laughter is extremely important, and I make sure children laugh in my sessions in order to decrease any anxiety that they may experience. As the saying goes, “Laughter is the best medicine.” I help families increase communication and strengthen their bond. I work with parents on ensuring their child’s needs are being met and that they feel loved. I teach parents how to create a therapeutic environment in their home through play. Parents learn skills such as reflective listening, how to empathize with their child, and be accepting and non-judgmental. They learn how to appropriately respond to their child’s feelings and underlying needs. Parents are taught how to set limits with their child when they are displaying unwanted/unsafe behaviors.
