Chemicals are considered to be harmful for the pipes, but bio-degradeable solutions do not harm the pipes. The major reasons for backups include tree roots growing into the sewer system and grease
building up in the sewer system. Electrically cleaning the sewer system is a good way to quickly unclog it, but to prevent the backups from returning in a few months, you can use products that actually work. We test all products before we sell them to our customers. Anything we wouldn't want to use for our house, we wouldn't want our customers to use for theirs. We tried numerous root killing products

ROOT-X. It's simple and fast. RootX formulation foams on contact with water, filling the entire pipe to reach the top where 90% of pipeline root intrusion occurs. From start to finish, a RootX application takes
less than 30 minutes. It's an effective and proven treatment. The active ingredient in RootX is the aquatic herbicide Dichlobenil that has been used for years to control aquatic weeds. RootX contains surfactants, degreasing agents that strip away the grime on roots, allowing Dichlobenil to penetrate the root ends. RootX promotes bacterial growth that assists in the decomposition of dead roots. RootX is a non-metam sodium foaming root control in powdered formulation. It foams on contact with water to kill roots and inhibit growth.
