For this task, the system will need a low molecular weight (LMW) HALS. If you have 20 - 40 % of mineral fillers, the actually you will not really need to have an organic UV absorber present as the fillers will screen of the harmful UV radiation. In addition to the LMW HALS though, you should consider an addition of a HMW HALS (as this besides the radical scavening effect for UV protection also provides LTHS (long term heat stability)), which LMW HALS cannot do.

I have a question for you ...did you do the Florida exposure studies (or something similar) for the formulation you mentioned...my guess is that probably not and as I understand that still you sold thousand of them without customer complaint. I have some unanswered questions from a project I did couple of year’s ago. I never could understand some aspects of outdoor testing.

Some very relevant comments here, especially on formulation and the inescapable interrelationship of material, design and process. A fundamental truth is that stiffness in any part is a function of the material's elastic modulus and its geometry. Attacking both in tandem gives the greatest benefits. Impact strength at low temperatures may also be an issue (for those who choose to sit outside in winter!). I witnessed the collapse of a garden chair that had weathered badly. My sister-in-law received a nasty set of scratches from the jagged edges. This reminds me of the earlier suggestion to contact Glen Beall.
