Pros:
Comes back to attempt to fix the many mistakes. Over and over and over.
Cons:
Brand new roof still leaking! Has damaged, extensively, many other areas of our home!
Comment:
I used Hester's for a new roof on my home. At the time he did the estimate, we asked whether or not we needed to replace the skylights. We were told they were fine, and we went ahead with his recommendation of having just the roof replaced. The nightmare with this company just goes on and on: First, they took off our gutters and never put them back on after the job. (Minor.) Within days, water was POURING into our kitchen from one of the skylights, damaging the ceiling, ruining a kitchen window, and ruining the brand new kitchen back splash. He did come back twice to attempt to repair it, but indicated that it was "our" fault for not replacing the skylights. When I explained that he was the expert who said they were fine, his excuse was "I thought you were on a budget." (Yes, we are on a budget...Isn't everyone? But we never would have spent thousands on a roof without doing it right!...We would have either come up with more money, saved longer, or whatever.) Moving on...he did eventually replace the skylight in the kitchen (we paid for the skylight but he did the labor for free), and it has not leaked again. We asked at that time whether we should just go ahead and do the bathroom skylight too, and we were told, "No, that one is fine." He's sure of it. Well, needless to say, the bathroom skylight has since leaked, resulting in the ceiling being damaged and the bathroom floor being ruined. We have to replace the sub floor and everything! Again, he did come back, and this time offered to replace it for free, including the cost of the skylight. He did offer to fix the bathroom floor but honestly, I don't want to get any further involved with this company, so I declined. He replaced the skylight and so far (it's only been a week) it's not leaking, BUT, the one he installed is the wrong size (!!!), so now we have to take down the entire bathroom ceiling and rebuild a casing that's the correct size for the skylight. An additional month later, it is leaking from around the roof vents too, resulting in even more damage. The entire thing has been a nightmare, and while Mr. Hester has been polite and responsive about coming back, that doesn't change the fact that his errors have caused far more damage to our home which will cost us thousands to fix. If you decide to go ahead with this contractor, don't say I didn't warn you! Not recommended!
